Brooklyn, NY---In a great college basketball atmosphere, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team shot 10-18 from beyond the arc in the second half to win its conference opener against York College, 88-78. Brooklyn improves to 6-1 overall with the CUNYAC win and has won its last four contests. York drops to 3-3 overall with the conference loss. The Bulldogs return to their non-conference schedule at Stevens Tech on Tuesday, December 4.
How It Happened
-Already leading by nine points (67-58) with 10:44 left in the contest, Brooklyn went on 7-0 run capped by reverse lay-in finished by junior forward
David Melman on a nice feed from junior guard,
Michael Tesoriero. Brooklyn led by as many as 21 points with 6:03 to go in the contest.
-Tesoriero was lights out from beyond the arc in the second half, shooting 4-6 in the final twenty minutes. Junior guard,
Jordan Wright was also hot from long-range knocking down three of his four makes for the game in the second half.
-After York scored the first bucket of the game, the Bulldogs responded with a 10-0 run capped by a
Jade Spencer lay-in with 17:44 left in the first half. Spencer gave Brooklyn its largest lead (16) of the first half with a score in the paint at the 10:55 mark.
-York chipped away at Brooklyn's first half lead and a late three-point make sent the Cardinals into halftime only trailing the Bulldogs, 40-36, at the break.
-All five Brooklyn starters reached double-figures in scoring.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Wright scored a game-high 23 points on 9-11 from the field including 4-6 from behind the arc.
-Junior guard added 17 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists.
-Tesoriero finished with 15 points, five assists, and game-high four steals.
Leading the Cardinals
-Taishaun Forehand Jenkins matched game-high scoring honors with 23 points.
-Devine Chisholm added 12 points.
-Akil Vaughn came off of the bench to grab a game-high 14 rebounds.
