Bulldogs Unable to Rally Against William Paterson, Fall 76-63 in Non-Conference Play

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team was unable to put that one complete run together tonight, dropping their third straight non-conference game in a row against William Paterson, 76-63.  Brooklyn closes out the first semester of play with a 6-4 record while the Pioneers improved to 8-4 with the non-conference win.  The Bulldogs return to the court at home on Thursday, January 3, in conference action against Hunter College.  Tip-off is set for 7:15 pm following the women's match-up at 5:00 pm.  

How It Happened

-Trailing 53-38 with 14:22 left in regulation, the Bulldogs made one last push with a 9-0 run to make it a two-possession game with 12:43 remaining.  Junior guard, Anthony McClean was responsible for seven of the nine points including a three-point make to cap the run.  Unfortunately for BC, the Pioneers responded with a nine-point swing of their own for a 62-47 advantage with 10:16 remaining.  William Paterson would keep a double-digit lead for the remaining of the contest. 
-The Bulldogs got off to a slow start, falling behind the Pioneers, 15-3 in the first five minutes of the game. However, the Bulldogs chipped away at the WPU lead at the charity stripe in the double-bonus early in the first half.  BC shot 11-17 from the free-throw line in the first half only trailing the Pioneers 35-31 at halftime.  
-WPU shot 9-17 (52.9%) from beyond the arc to the Bulldogs' 4-20 for the evening.  
-Three Pioneers combined for 67 of the team's 76 points.  

Leading the Bulldogs 

-McClean finished with a team-high 23 points on 9-17 from the floor including 3-8 from behind the arc. 
-Sophomore guard, Noah Shy added 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. 
-Junior forward Jade Spencer came off the bench to score 10 points and grab a team-high seven boards. 

Leading the Pioneers

-Sean Smith was lights out on the evening finishing with a game-high 31 points shooting 11-16 from the field including 7-10 from beyond the arc. 
-Domenic Mignone and Myles McLeod scored 18 points a piece.
