Bulldogs Improve to 2-0 in CUNYAC with 67-56 Win Over Hunter

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in conference play this evening defeating Hunter College, 67-56, for its first win in 2019.  Brooklyn improves to 7-4 overall with the victory while Hunter drops to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.  The Bulldogs continue conference play on the road on Saturday, January 5th at Lehman College.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm. 

How It Happened

-With the game tied, 45-45, with 7:52 to go in regulation, the Bulldogs took the lead for good thanks to a 10-0 ending at the 4:52 mark.  After an in-bounds pass stolen by sophomore guard, Nico Serrano, he would find a trailing Michael Tesoriero for a huge three-point make giving Brooklyn a 53-45 lead with 4:48 to play.  
-Brooklyn trailed by as many as six points (38-32) early in the second half, but responded with two unanswered buckets to only trail 38-36 with 14:31 left in regulation.  
-Brooklyn shot 43.8% from the field in the second half while keeping the Hawks to 34.4% in the final twenty minutes of play. 
-The Bulldogs forced ten Hunter turnovers in the second half while only committing six.  
-Brooklyn would head into halftime with a 28-25 advantage following a lay-in finished by sophomore forward Alpha Bah in the final seconds of the first half.  

Leading the Bulldogs

-Bah finished with game-highs in points (24) and rebounds (13) for the contest's only double-double.  Sophomore guard Noah Shy added 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. 
-Junior guard Michael Tesoriero just missed a double-double finishing with nine points to go along with a game-high 10 assists.  
-Serrano provided a huge punch off of the bench, scoring 10 points on 4-7 from the floor including 2-4 from beyond the arc.  

Leading the Hawks

-George Keener scored a team-high 21 points. 
-Melvin Collins scored 15 points and Gio Gabbidon added 11.
