Brooklyn, NY---Despite a 19-point 16-rebound performance produced by BC junior forward,
Jade Spencer, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team fell for the first time at home this evening, dropping a non-conference decision to the College of New Rochelle, 84-78. Brooklyn moves to 6-3 with the loss while CNR improves to 4-3 with the victory. The Bulldogs remain home to complete their non-conference schedule against William Paterson on Friday, December 14. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
How It Happened
-With the game tied, 27-27, with 6:21 remaining in the first half, the Blue Angels' Justin Rivera knocked down a three-point field goal giving CNR the lead for the remainder of the contest. The Blue Angels buried back-to-back three-pointers to head into halftime with the 48-40 advantage.
-Trailing CNR, 56-45, with 16:48 left in regulation, the Bulldogs would go on an 8-0 including three straight buckets finished by Spencer to cut make it a one-possession game with 12:34 to go.
-The Blue Angels took their largest lead of the contest with 8:14 left in regulation following an 8-0 run capped by an Elijah Harris make. Brooklyn responded with an 8-0 run of its own ending with a three-point make splashed by freshman guard
Sayed Mohassib who gave BC 14 solid minutes off of the bench finishing with six points while shooting 2-3 from beyond the arc and grabbing five rebounds.
-BC made one last push, cutting the CNR lead to four (80-76) with :33 left in the game, but the Blue Angels were able to run off enough clock and get the ball to their stronger free-throw shooters to close out the game.
-The Bulldogs opened the game making its first two three-point attempts to take an early 6-2 lead.
-Brooklyn turned the ball over 23 times to CNR's 20 giveaways.
-The Blue Angels shot 47.4% (9-19) to Brooklyn's 32.0% from beyond the arc for the contest.

-Spencer finished with a double-double on the evening scoring a team-high 19 points and grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds.
-Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, added 16 points and grabbed six boards.
-Junior guard,
Jordan Wright, scored 13 points, dished out four assists, and grabbed rebounds.
Leading the Blue Angels
-Junior guard, Hunter Schenkel, scored a game-high 29 points shooting 4-7 from behind the arc and shot a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe for the contest. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
-Elijah Harris added 14 points and found teammates for a game-high seven assists.
