Softball Drops Both of Season Opening Doubleheader to Rosemont

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn softball team fell in both games of its season opening doubleheader this evening to Rosemont College in non-conference play.  Rosemont took the first game of the evening, 19-0 (5 Innings) and closed out the evening with an 11-0 (5 Innings) win over BC.  The Bulldogs take to the road this weekend in Myrtle Beach where they will play four games in two days beginning with Lycoming College and Franciscan University on Friday, March 16.  

In Game 1, the Ravens scored eight runs in the second inning and nine runs in the third inning to roll to a 19-0 victory.  Rosemont pitcher, Autumn Sharkey, pitched a perfect game.  Errors plagued the Bulldogs in the first game finishing with eight.  Brooklyn starting pitcher, Uena Xharo, pitched all five innings, giving up 16 hits.  

Despite seven errors in Game 2, the Bulldogs tightened up defensively, making some plays in the field especially later in the game.  Senior infielder, Breanna Maresca, had the Bulldogs' lone hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Ravens opened up its scoring in the top of the first inning of Game 2, scoring five runs on three hits and 3 errors.  

BC starting pitcher, freshman Brittany Lay, had a solid BC debut in the circle, allowing five hits and striking out five batters in five innings of work.  Rosemont's Charli Filmore earned the win for the Ravens, allowing the one hit and not walking a batter in all five innings of work.
