Myrtle Beach, SC---The Brooklyn College softball team fell in both games on its first day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. In the morning game, the Bulldogs dropped a 19-2 (5 innings) decision to Lycoming College. Brooklyn ended the day with a 10-0 95 innings) loss to Franciscan University. The Bulldogs are 0-4 to start the 2018 season. Brooklyn closes out the road trip tomorrow with a doubleheader against Frostburg State starting at 9;30 am.
Trailing 14-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning, freshman outfielder Viviana Torres started the inning off for BC with a walked. She would advance to second after the next batter, Jessenia Garate was hit by a pitch. Torres advanced to third on a ground-out before being driven home by sophomore infielder,
Nicole Boudouris, who reached on an error.
Boudouris would drive the Bulldogs' second run in on the season in the bottom of the fifth inning on double down the line, driving Garate, who walked earlier in the inning, home.
Freshman pitcher, Brittany Lay, had the Bulldogs' other hit of the game. Lay would be charged with the loss, allowing 15 hits on the morning.
Lycoming's Rachael Shady was a perfect 3-3 with a double and three RBI. She also walked twice.
In Game 2, Franciscan would jump out to a 3-0 lead heading into the second inning on a pair of RBI doubles and an RBI single. Following a scoreless second inning, the Barons scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to put the game out of reach for BC.
Senior infielder, Breanna Maresca, and Lay both singled for the Bulldogs.
