Brooklyn Sweeps CCNY for Third Win in a Row

New York, NY----Winning its ninth of the last ten matches played, the Brooklyn College rolled to a 3-0 sweep of CCNY in conference action on the road tonight, 3-0 (21, 13, 21).  BC improves to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in CUNYAC with the victory while the Beavers drop to 10-6 and 2-4 in conference play.  The Bulldogs continue conference play at home on Tuesday, March 27, against Lehman College at 6:00 pm.  

By the Set

-The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-1 lead to start the match.  Despite the Beavers coming back and pulling within a point, 14-13, BC rallied for three straight to sustain its cushion for the rest of the opening set.  
-After CCNY scored the first point of the second set, the Bulldogs responded with a five-score rally sparked by a kill put away by junior setter, Sayuj Zachariah.  Already leading 20-12 down the stretch, the Bulldogs put the second set completely out of reach for the Beavers with a late four-point rally, which included three kills.  
-Determined to avoid the sweep on their home court, the Beavers jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the third set.  Brooklyn responded with a three-point run of its own before tying the set, 5-5, with a kill and a service ace.  With the set tied, 21-21, the Bulldogs closed out the match with four straight scores including a match-winning ace served up by sophomore middle hitter, Ahmed Moawad.

-Junior outside hitter, Vaughn Titus, put away a match-high nine kills.  He also finished with six digs and a block.  
-Moawad and sophomore outside hitter Gabriel Pjatak added eight kills a piece.  Each also also served up an ace on the evening.  
-Sophomore defensive specialist, Snigdho Hasan, finished with a team-high nine digs. 
-Zachariah finished the match with a team-high 23 assists.  

Leading CCNY 

-Abdullah Khalid and Maldonado Madrid finished with eight kills each.  
-Javier Lazo and Seth Diaz finished with two blocks each.
