Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's soccer team fell in its season opener this evening, outlasted by Kean University, 2-0, on the road. Brooklyn will look to bounce back on Monday, September 3rd, at Montclair State. Kickoff is set for 12:00 pm.
"Despite the result, I thought the team played better than expected with a few late additions to the roster," third-year BC Head Coach, Joe Andre would comment. "I was impressed with junior keeper,
Utku Tanritanir, who did a remarkable job keeping us in the match until the very end."
Tanritanir finished the match with seven saves in all ninety minutes between the sticks.
Kean was the much busier team offensively firing off 29 shots to the Bulldogs' three. However, two of the three BC shots were on-goal. All three shots were taken by the Bulldogs' reserves.
The home team's Erik Reyes scored the game-winner in the 37th minute of the match. Kean's insurance goal didn't come until the 86th minute from outside the box.
BC junior forward,
Stewart Bailon, came off of the bench for both of Brooklyn's shots-on-goal.
