Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team rolled to a 71-49 conference win over CCNY this evening on Alumni Night, completing the CUNYAC doubleheader sweep of the Beavers. Brooklyn improves to 9-6 and 4-2 in CUNYAC with the victory while the Beavers drop to 2-12 and 2-5 in the conference with the loss. The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, January 16, at John Jay.
How It Happened
-The Bulldogs never trailed the Beavers after the 16:01 mark in the first half. Trailing CCNY 4-3 early in the game, the Bulldogs would go on a 10-0 run capped by a fast-break lay-in finished by sophomore forward,
Alpha Bah. Brooklyn kept CCNY at bay for the remainder of the first half for a 30-22 halftime lead.
-Brooklyn extended its lead to 17 (41-24) in the first five minutes of the second half thanks in part to an 11-0 run.
-The Bulldogs kept CCNY to 33.3% shooting from the field for the evening.
-Brooklyn finished with 24 assists as a team to the Beavers' 15.
-Six Bulldogs reached double-figures in scoring as BC's bench outscored CCNY's 29-8.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Junior guard,
Orri Cohen, scored a team-high 15 points.
-Junior guard,
Michael Tesoriero, flirted with another triple-double on the season finishing with 12 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds.
-Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, recorded his first double-double of the season finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Leading the Beavers
-Ty-Ler Banks finished with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds.
