Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-23) shutout of Purchase College in its season opener at the West Quad Center this evening. It was also the first win for newly hired BC Head Coach, Dinu Dan, in his debut at the helm of the Bulldog program. Brooklyn is back at home on Monday for another non-conference match against St. Joesph's College Brooklyn at 7:00 pm.
How It Happened
-Brooklyn jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the match, taking a commanding 10-4 lead early in the first set. Already leading 20-11, the Bulldogs closed out the opening set with a five-score rally.
-Trailing the visitors 8-7 early in the second set, Brooklyn took the lead for good with three straight scores. Purchase rallied late to cut Brooklyn's lead to 24-23 but the home won the set on the next point on a kill hammered home by sophomore
Michael Valentin.
-The Bulldogs took an 18-10 lead before the Panthers battled back thanks to a five score rally to cut BC's lead to 20-19. Purchase eventually tied the set 23-23 before the Bulldogs were able to close out the match on back-to-back Purchase errors.
-Brooklyn was more efficient offensively for the match finishing with a .355 hitting percentage to Purchase's .042.

Omar Rezika led the way with a match-high eight kills and three blocks for ten points.
-Sophomore setter,
Michael Valentin, finished seven kills and a team-high 15 assists.
-Junior libero,
Snigdho Hasan, led the way defensively with a match-high ten digs.
