New York, NY---Led by junior forward
Jade Spencer's 32 points and 13 rebounds, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team pulled out its third conference win on the road in overtime at Hunter College, 73-71, this evening. Brooklyn improves to 12-7 overall and 7-3 in CUNYAC with the victory while Hunter drops to 4-15 and 2-9 in the conference. The Bulldogs will be back in action at the West Quad Center on Tuesday against Lehman College at 7:15 pm.
How It Happened
-With the Bulldogs extending its ten-point halftime lead to 41-26 in the first two minutes of the second half following a made three drained by sophomore guard,
Nico Serrano, it was looking like another conference rout for BC. However, the Hawks used a 10-0 run to take its first lead of the contest, 58-57, with 4:46 remaining in the contest. The teams exchanged leads before Hunter knocked down one of two free-throws with :17 to go in the second half.
-Spencer scored six of the Bulldogs' eight points in overtime.
-Already leading 24-21 with 5:02 left in the first half, the Bulldogs went on a 10-0 run with Spencer contributing eight points to the rally. BC led by as many as 13 points in the opening half.
-Brooklyn shot 62.5% from the floor in the first half and 73.3% as a team from the charity stripe for the game.
Leading the Bulldogs
-In addition's to Spencer's career-high, three other Bulldogs reached double-figures in scoring for the game. Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Guards
Nico Serrano and
Michael Tesoriero added 11 points a piece. Tesoriero also grabbed four rebounds and and dished out a game-high five assists.
-Junior forward,
David Melman, provided defense off of the bench finishing with a pair or blocks and two steals.
Leading the Hawks
-George Keener scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
-Danny Fusco added 16 points and dished out five assists.
