Bulldogs Have Six-Game Win-Streak Snapped at Hunter

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College women's basketball team had its six-game winning streak put to a halt this evening, falling in conference play at Hunter College, 69-53.  Brooklyn moves to 12-7 overall and 8-2 in CUNYAC with the loss while the Hawks improved to 11-9 and 10-1.  The Bulldogs return home on Tuesday, January 29th for a conference doubleheader against Lehman.  Tip-off for the women's game is set for 5:00 pm.  

How It Happened

-A tie game, 10-10, with 3:50 remaining in the opening quarter, the Hawks closed out the first with an 11-3.  Brooklyn would trail from there on out despite coming within striking distance on a couple of occasions in the next two quarters. 
-Hunter opened the final quarter with a 5-0 run sparked a three buried by the Hawks' Jade Aponte. The home team finished the game with its largest lead of the contest. 
-Brooklyn struggled from the field including from beyond the arc shooting 3-13 for the game.  
-The Bulldogs turned the ball over 20 times to the Hawks' 11. Hunter was also the busier team on the offensive boards finishing with 18 second chances to BC's 10.  

Leading the Bulldogs

-Sophomore forward, Chanel Jemmott, scored a team-high 17 points in only 19 minutes due to foul trouble. 
-Senior forward, Jasmine Hansgen, finished with her fifth double-double of the season scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.  

Leading the Hawks

-Jade Aponte scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
-Janine Conway added 17 points.
