Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in conference play this afternoon, defeating Lehman College, 76-62, on the road. Brooklyn improves to 8-4 overall with the victory while the Lightning drops to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in CUNYAC. Next up: Brooklyn hosts the 2017-18 CUNYAC Champion College of Staten Island Dolphins at the West Quad Center on Monday, January 7, at 7:15 pm.
How It Happened
-The Bulldogs outscored Lehman 47-34 in the second half. Trailing the Lightning, 31-29, with 19:03 left in regulation, the Bulldogs took the lead for good following a three-point make buried by junior guard,
Michael Tesoriero, only four seconds later. Already leading 38-35 with 16:53 left in the game, the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run to take their first double-digit lead of the contest with 13:44 to go. BC would lead by as many as 17 points in the second half.
-BC trailed the Lightning by as many as six points in the first half, but a 10-0 run helped the Bulldogs to a 29-28 halftime advantage.
-Brooklyn shot 48% to Lehman's 35% in the second half.
-The Bulldogs held Lehman to 15% from beyond the arc in the second half.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Tesoriero scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out nine assists, and recorded seven steals.
-Junior guard,
Orri Cohen, came off of the bench to score 19 points while making a team-high three three-pointers for the game.
-Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, added 17 points.
Leading the Lightning
-Isaiah Geathers and Andre Hampton scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds each.
-Miguel Haboosh scored 12 points.
