New York, NY---On the verge of handing Baruch its first conference loss of the season, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to get over the hump late in the second half, eventually falling to the Bearcats, 56-53. Brooklyn moves to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in CUNYAC with their second conference loss in a row. Baruch improved to 12-3 overall and 6-0 in CUNYAC to remain at the top of the table in the conference. The Bulldogs return home on Friday for a conference doubleheader against CCNY with the men's game tipping off at 7:15 pm.
How It Happened
-With Brooklyn trailing 48-45, Bulldog junior guard,
Michael Tesoriero, would tie the game by burying a three-pointer with 5:50 remaining in regulation. Baruch responded with a three of its own to take the lead for good despite Brooklyn staying in striking distance until the final buzzer.
-Brooklyn controlled the majority of the first half, leading by as many as seven points (30-23) at the 1:53. However, the Bearcats cut Brooklyn's lead to three (30-27) at the half.
-Baruch shot 10-25 to Brooklyn's 6-20 from beyond the arc from the game.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Sophomore guard,
Noah Shy, scored a team-high 13 points. Senior guard,
Nathan Josaphat, added 11 points, shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc.
-Junior forward,
Jade Spencer, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to go along with eight points.
Leading the Bearcats
-Andre Harris scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the contest's only double-double.
-William Sixsmith and Joseph Zecchino scored 12 points a piece.
