Camden, NJ---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball scored a split this afternoon in a non-conference trimatch at Rutgers-Camden. In their first match of the day, the Bulldogs took down Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-2 (25-20, 27-25, 17-25, 23-25, 19-17) before falling to the host, 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 15-25, 16-25, 6-15). Brooklyn moves to 13-8 with the split. The Bulldogs will have a week to prepare for another non-conference next Saturday hosted by Ramapo College where they will take on the host at 10am and fellow CUNYAC member, York College, in a non-conference match at 12pm.
Match Summary vs. GMU
-Falling behind early in the first game, the Bulldogs rallied for five straight scores to take a 17-15 lead. BC would fall behind early in the second game as well, but battled back to finish the game with back-to-back kills to a take a 2-0 lead.
-The Griffens responded in the third and fourth games using late rallies to tie the match.
-With deciding game tied 17-17, freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk, put away a kill before junior libero,
Yana Shaposhnikova, ended the match with a clutch service ace.
-BC freshman opposite, set a new career-high in kills with 29 while Cronk added her new career-high 18 kills. Sophomore setter,
Ezri Shor, also had a career match with 44 assists. Shaposhnikova led BC defensively on the ground with 33 digs.
-Liz Shule led the GMU with a team-high 21 kills. Cait Saalfrank had a match-high 44 digs.
Match Summary vs. Rutgers-Newark
-Brooklyn once again jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the home team responded to tie the match.
-The home team would go on to control the fifth and deciding game after Brooklyn scored the first point.
-Fung had another standout performance finishing with a match-high 19 kills. Cronk added 10 kills. Shor set for a match-high 36 assists.
-Rutgers-Camden served up 19 aces to Brooklyn's six.
-The home team was led by Morgan Mulligan's 13 kills. Two other Raptors reached double-figures in kills. Savannah Hayes served up a match-high nine aces.
