Mahwah, NJ---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team scored a split at Ramapo College today in a non-conference trimatch. In the first match of the day, the Bulldogs fell to the host, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-20), but bounced back in their second match with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-6) sweep of fellow CUNYAC member, York College. Brooklyn moves to 14-9 overall with the non-conference win and loss. BC returns to conference play on Tuesday, October 29, at 6pm for a crucial match at the West Quad Center against Baruch College on Homecoming Night - the first 125 fans will receive a FREE Brooklyn College Athletics t-shirt.
Match Summary vs. Ramapo
-Getting off to a slow start to the start the match and the home team rolling to a 25-15 win in the first game, the Bulldogs would make the next two games more interesting.
-Brooklyn would grab a 13-9 lead after 6-0 run in the second game. BC would extend their lead to 18-12 before Ramapo stormed back thanks to a five-point rally. With game tied, 23-23, the Roadrunners capitalized on a BC service error before ending the game with a kill.
-The third game mirrored the second with the teams exchanging short spurts and leads. Already leading, 20-18, the host used a three-score rally to eventually close out the match.
-Ramapo improved to 11-4 with the victory.
-The Bulldogs were led by freshman opposite
Ashley Fung's 11 kills. She also came up with 14 digs defensively. Freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk, served up a team-high three aces.
-Ramapo was led by Morgan Ridgeway's 11 kills. Felicia Jimenez added 10 kills.
Match Summary vs. York
-Trailing 8-7 to start the match, the Bulldogs rallied for four straight scores to take the lead for good in the first game.
-Brooklyn would get stronger as the match wore on with multiple extensive runs in the second game.
-The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas to start the third game, jumping out to an 8-0 lead and never looking back.
-BC hit an efficient .348 as a team for the match.
-Brooklyn was dominant behind the service line finishing with 18 services for the match.
-Fung led the way with a match-high 12 kills. Junior setter,
Kate Meltsin, served up a match-high six aces to go along with a BC career-high 36 assists.
-York was led by Chrissy Hobson's four kills.
