Brooklyn, NY---Putting an exclamation point on Senior Day, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 non-conference win over the University of Valley Forge this afternoon in Brooklyn's regular season finale. Brooklyn ends the regular season with a 4-11-1 overall record while Valley Forge drops to 5-10. The Bulldogs will host a First Round match in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships next Wednesday, October 30, and await their opponent.
Match Summary
-Scoring the first goal of the match in 38' and his first of the season, BC freshman midfielder,
Luis Gomez, would then score the game-winner in 42'. His first goal was assisted by junior defender,
Miguel Deanda, on a breakaway and his second was assisted by junior midfielder,
Alex Sosa.
-Sophomore midfielder,
Brian Navarrete, gave Brooklyn a 3-0 halftime lead after drilling a shot from 30 yards out to the top right-hand corner of the goal.
-Sosa would give Brooklyn a 4-0 lead in 51' on an assist from sophomore midfielder,
George Espinoza.
-The Patriots avoided the shutout with a converted penalty kick in 67' after being fouled in the box by the Bulldogs.
-BC responded in 70' as Deanda distributed his second assist of the match to freshman midfielder,
Jordi Hernandez, on a cross.
-Coming off of the bench late in the match, sophomore defender,
Demyan Turiy, added a goal to the scoring frenzy in 90'.
