Brooklyn, NY---Playing for Second Place in the CUNYAC standings and the No. 2 seed with an automatic bye to the conference tournament semifinals, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team fought hard but was eventually outlasted by Baruch College, 3-1 (16-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22). Brooklyn drops to 14-10 overall and 5-2 in the conference with the loss while the Bearcats improve to 18-7 and 6-1 with the victory. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Thursday in non-conference play at William Paterson at 7pm.
Match Summary
-Baruch controlled the first game beginning with a three-point rally to start the match on three Brooklyn errors. The Bulldogs had one solid run to cut the Bearcat lead to 10-8 after trailing 8-2, but Baruch cut the run short with back-to-back scores.
-Brooklyn looked like a different team in the second game. Trailing Baruch 9-8, the Bulldogs rallied for four straight scores beginning with a kill put away by freshman opposite,
Ashley Fung and capped by a kill crushed by freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk. Brooklyn controlled the game from there on with sophomore middle,
Alejandra Chen, closing it out with a solo block.
-Trailing the Bearcats 17-10 in the third game, the Bulldogs didn't let up and thanks to a six-score rally, pulled within a point of Baruch. However, Brooklyn was never able to get over the hump and after a three-point rally, the Bearcats had a 21-17 lead.
-Once again, the Bulldogs would find themselves in an early hole in the fourth game, trailing 4-1 to start. Brooklyn continued to chip away and ied the game, 17-17, following back-to-back kills. Brooklyn took its first lead of the game on an ace served up by Cronk to lead 19-18. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Baruch rallied for three straight scores down the stretch to take a 23-20, which made the difference in the game to end the match.

-Chen had a match-high five blocks and three service aces.

-Anita Sengara led the way offensively with 17 kills. She also came up with 19 digs.
-Stella Chung added 10 kills to go along with three service aces.
-Wai Change finished with a match-high 21 digs.
