Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

BC Goes Distance, But Falls to Rutgers-Newark, 3-2

Brooklyn, NY----Packed with excitement from the opening serve, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball gave Rutgers-Newark all that they could handle this evening but eventually fell to the Scarlet Raiders, 3-2 (25-19, 16-25, 17-25, 25-15, 15-10), at the West Quad Gymnasium.  Brooklyn moves to 10-6 overall with the loss while RUN improves to 11-7 snapping a four-match skid.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Monday at St. Joseph's College Long Island at 7pm.  

Match Summary

-After a frustrating first game where the Bulldogs weren't able to put together that one run to get over the hump, the Bulldogs played inspired volleyball the next two games to take a 2-1 lead.  Trailing early in the third game, the Bulldogs rallied for six straight scores to take a commanding 23-15 lead.  
-The visitor jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the fourth game. BC battled back to tie the game, 7-7, but the Scarlet Raiders' nine-point rally midway through the game proved to be the back-breaker. 
-Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-0 to start the deciding game, but the visitor responded with a five-point rally to take the lead for good and close out the match.  
-BC freshman opposite, Ashley Fung, set a new career-high with 20 kills to lead the offense to go along with two blocks and two service aces. Fellow freshman, Madison Cronk, added 11 kills.  Sophomore setter, Ezri Shor, set for a new career-high 38 assists.  Junior libero, Yana Shaposhnikova, led the defensive game on the ground with a match-high 24 digs.  
-Rutgers' Comfort Akinbo put away a match-high 29 kills while setter, Karly Gregoire, assisted on 50 kills.
