Bulldogs Outlasted by William Paterson in Season Opener, 77-68

Brooklyn, NY---In a tale of two halves, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team dropped its Season Opener at home to William Paterson University, 77-68, this evening.  William Paterson begins their season with a non-conference win.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday, November 16, at home against Wittenberg University at 3pm.  

Game Summary
-With the scored tied, 51-51, with 6:15 remaining in the game, went on 9-0 run to take the lead for good.  WPU outscored BC by 14 points in the second half. 
-Falling behind 12-5 to start the game, the Bulldogs went on a quick 6-0 run to get back into the contest with back-to-back threes buried by senior guards, Anthony McClean and Jordan Wright
-Already leading 29-27, the Bulldogs grabbed a 32-29 advantage following another Wright three with a little over three minutes left in the first half.  BC would cling to a 34-29 halftime lead following a make in the paint scored by junior center, Wendly Alce.  
-Brooklyn kept the pressure on the Pioneers to start the second half, taking a 45-40 lead after sophomore guard, Kayin Olajide drained a three with 13:20 to go.  
-BC shot 8-17 from behind the arc in the first half and 2-13 in the second.  
-The Pioneers outscored the Bulldogs 40-22 in the paint and 18-12 on second-chance points.  
-WPU shot 49.1% from the field to BC's 34.3% for the game. 

Leading the Bulldogs
-BC was paced by 11 points each scored by senior guard, Michael Tesoriero, and junior guard, Noah Shy.  Shy also grabbed a team-high six boards. Tesoriero dished out eight assists and had four steals. 
-Wright and junior forward, Joevanny Dambreville, chipped in ten points a piece.  

Leading the Pioneers
-Sean Smith scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. 
-Nasir Fields and Domenic Mignone chipped in 15 points and 14 points respectively.  Mignone notched the game's only double-double with a contest-high 10 rebounds.
