Union, NJ--The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team dropped both matches of a non-conference trimatch hosted by Kean University this afternoon to close out the regular season. Brooklyn ends their regular season slate with a 14-3 mark. Brooklyn will look to bounce back in the postseason as it enters the CUNYAC Championships beginning on Tuesday, November 5, when the No. 3 seeded Bulldogs host No. 6 Lehman College in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
Trimatch Summary
-The Bulldogs fell to host, Kean University, in the first match of the afternoon, 3-1 (13-25, 9-25, 25-23, 15-25).
-Kean was the more efficient team, hitting .266 to the Bulldogs' .046.
-BC avoided a sweep against the Cougars in the third game thanks to a late five-point rally that included three kills and a service ace.
-BC freshman opposite,
Ashley Fung, put away a team-high 14 kills and came up with 11 kills for a double-double. Junior setter,
Kate Meltsin, finished with 26 assists.
-Kean's Jesse Larkin finished a match-high 21 kills and three blocks. Brianna Calvano set for 43 assists.
-Brooklyn closed out its day with a 3-1 (20-25, 11-25, 25-23, 18-25) loss to Misericordia University.
-The Bulldogs would once again find themselves trailing by two games heading into the third against Misericordia.
-Trailing MU, 18-17, in the third game, the Bulldogs took the lead for good with a five-score rally. Fung ended the game on a kill assisted by Meltsin.
-MU served up 19 aces to BC's eight for the match.
-Fung led the way offensively for the Bulldogs with nine kills and three service aces. Freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk added seven kills.
-MU's Tara Welliver finished with a match-high 14 kills. Karley May set for 44 assists.
