Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team rolled to its second straight sweep this evening over Sarah Lawrence College, 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 25-14). BC improves to 4-5 overall with the non-conference victory while the Gryphons dropped to 1-4. The Bulldogs complete their home stand tomorrow against St. Joseph's College Long Island at 7:00 pm.
How It Happened
-After cruising in the first game, the Bulldogs found themselves trailing 5-4 early in the second. However, the Bulldogs took the lead for good beginning with a five score rally capped by back-to-back kills put away by freshman middle hitter,
Omar Rezika. Brooklyn continued to dominate and it would be Rezika who put away the final point of the second game with a kill. Brooklyn would find themselves trailing the Gryphons early once again in the third game. Down 7-6, the Bulldogs put together ten unanswered scores to put the game and match out of reach for Sarah Lawrence.
-The Bulldogs finished with ten service aces to Sarah Lawrence's two.
-Brooklyn only had eight errors to the Gryphons' 19.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Junior middle hitter,
Gabriel Pjatak, led the way with 12.5 points including six kills and eight blocks.
-Junior setter
Michael Valentin finished with nine points including a team-high eight kills and two block assists. He also set for ten assists and had seven digs.
Leading the Gryphons
-Harris Silcott and Divij Kapoor led the way with five kills a piece.
