Bulldogs Fall to St. Joe's Long Island in Three

Brooklyn, NY---Sweeping its last two matches at the West Quad Center, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team were on the other this evening, falling to St. Joseph's Long Island 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-21).  Brooklyn drops to 4-6 with the non-conference loss while the top-20 nationally ranked Golden Eagles improved to 8-2.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on the road in conference play at York College on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.  

How It Happened

-St. Joe's proved its ranking from the opening serve, jumping out to a 6-0 lead to start the match and cruised to end of the first game.  Brooklyn was resistant in the second game, keeping up with the Golden Eagles.  However, whith the game tied, 10-10, St, Joe's pulled away with a seven-score rally.  Trailing St. Joe's 24-18 in the third game, the Bulldogs pulled within 24-21 before St. Joe's closed out the match on a BC error.  
-The Golden Eagles finished the match with 33 kills to BC's 13.  Brooklyn only managed two aces to St. Joe's nine for the match.  

Leading the Bulldogs

-Junior setter, Michael Valentin led the way with 6.5 points including a team-high five kills.  He also finished with four assists and six digs.  

Leading the Golden Eagles

-Jack Solen finished with a match-high 14.5 points including six kills and six service aces.  
-Kyle Biggers put away five kills.
