Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men;s basketball team pulled out a huge conference win in overtime this evening, handing CUNYAC standings leader, Baruch College, only its second loss in conference play, 65-60. Brooklyn improves to 13-9 overall and 8-5 in the conference while Baruch drops to 17-5 and 11-2. The Bulldogs continue conference play on the road at CCNY on Friday, February 8.
How It Happened
-After sending the game into overtime with a made fall away jumper in the final seconds of regulation, Brooklyn junior guard,
Jordan Wright, buried a difference making three to give Brooklyn a 63-60 advantage and the lead for good with :47 left in overtime. Following a defensive stop, sophomore guard,
Noah Shy iced a pair of free throws to put the game out of reach for the Bearcats with :26 to go.
-With Brooklyn leading 51-47 after a Wright three with 2:39 to go in regulation, Baruch's Andre Harris went on a one-man 6-0 run to give the Bearcats a 53-51 lead with just under eight seconds remaining in the second half. The Bulldogs would go the length of the court before Shy found Wright streaking down the left wing for the heroic jumper fading towards the baseline.
-The Bulldogs did get off to a slow start and was able to overcome a 14-point first half deficit. Brooklyn closed out the opening half with a 9-2 run.
-Brooklyn took its first lead since the game's opening bucket with 14:13 left in regulation after a Shy made three.
-In a physical defensive battle, the Bulldogs were able to out-shoot Baruch 26.7% (8-30) to 13.3% (4-30) from beyond the arc for the game.

-Wright scored a team-high 17 points, shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc.
-Shy added 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.
-Junior forward,
Jade Spencer, was crucial in the paint against Baruch's bigs, finishing with nine points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Leading the Bearcats
-Harris scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
-Bryler Paige added 10 points.
