Hiram, OH---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped its first of three matches scheduled in Ohio this weekend, falling to host, Hiram College 3-0 (11-25, 22-25, 11-25) this evening. Brooklyn moves to 2-2 overall with the loss while Hiram improved to 2-8. The Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow at Hiram to take on the host again and Wittenberg University. How It Happened
-The Terriers jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the match. Brooklyn cut the Hiram lead to 11-7 before the Terriers put the first game out of reach with a 6-0 run for a 20-9 advantage.
-Brooklyn showed resilience in the second game taking a 15-10 lead following a service ace hit by sophomore setter, MIchael Valentin, and a kill put away by senior setter,
Sayuj Zachariah. The Bulldogs led 21-18 before Hiram tied the game with a three-score rally. Brooklyn took its final lead of the game, 22-21, on a Hiram service error, but the Bulldogs weren't able to hold on as the Terriers closed out the game with a four-point rally.
-After the Bulldogs scored first in the third game, the Terriers rattled off four straight scores to take the lead for good and close out the match.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Zachariah finished with a team-high four kills.
-Valentin set for a team-high eight assists. He also had two blocks for the match.
-Junior defensive specialist,
Utku Tanritanir, finished with a match-high seven digs.
Leading Hiram
-Tom Supan put away a match-high eight kills. He also served up a match-high five aces.
-Andrew Diaz set for a match-high 16 assists.
