Hiram, OH---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped both matches of a tri-match at Hiram College this afternoon to close out play for their trip to Ohio. Early in the afternoon, the Bulldogs fell to Wittenberg University, 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 10-25) before dropping its second match of the day to the host Hiram, 3-0 (16-25, 11-25, 14-25). Brooklyn moves to 2-4 overall with the losses. The Bulldogs have the week to prepare for its first conference match of the season at Medgar Evers on Monday, February 18, at 12:00 pm.
vs. Wittenberg
How It Happened
-After BC scored the first point of the match on an error, Wittenberg rallied for five straight scores to take an early 5-1. The Bulldogs battled back, eventually taking a 13-12 lead. However, with the score tied 16-16, Wittenberg took the lead for good beginning with a four-score rally, which included back-to-back kills and service ace.
-Wittenberg jumped out to a 5-2 lead to start the second game and kept a comfortable cushion throughout. A service ace hit by senior senior setter,
Sayuj Zachariah, pulled the Bulldogs within three points, 17-14, later in the game, but Wittenberg responded with a five-point rally to close out the game.
-Brooklyn would once again find itself in an early hole, trailing Wittenberg 10-4. Wittenberg continued to roll, taking a 19-7 lead and never looked back to close out the match.

Michael Valentin, put away a team-high six kills and had six digs.
-Zachariah set for a team-high eight assists, had two blocks, and served up a pair of aces.

-Gabriel Lamar put away a match-high ten kills, served up four aces, and had three blocks.

How It Happened
-Already leading 8-7, the home team rallied for three straight scores in the first game to secure a 1-0 lead. Hiram jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the second game to put the set out of reach early for the Bulldogs. Brooklyn took an early 5-4 lead in the third game before Hiram took the lead for good to close out the match beginning with a 5-0 run.
-The host finished the match with a .438 hitting percentage to Brooklyn's -.013.
-The Terriers served up seven aces while the Bulldogs weren't able to manage one.
