Jamaica, NY---Trailing 2-1 heading into the fourth set, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball won the final two sets for a 3-2 (Forfeit, 25-21, 17-25, 25-11, 15-9) conference win at York College this evening. With their first CUNYAC win of the season, Brooklyn improves to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play while York drops to 2-12 and 0-3. The Bulldogs return home to host Fontbonne University for a non-conference match on Thursday at the West Quad Center at 7:00 pm.
How It Happened
-Trailing 2-1, Brooklyn rallied for five straight scores to take a commanding 14-7 lead in the fourth set. BC closed out the set with an ace served up by junior outside hitter,
Gabriel Pjatak.
-After falling behind 3-0 in the deciding set, the Bulldogs responded with a 7-0 run sparked by a kill put away by freshman middle hitter,
Omar Rezika. Brooklyn ended the match with three straight scores beginning with a Rezika kill.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Rezika finished with a team-high 11 points on nine kills and a pair of service aces.
-Pjatak added eight kills.
-Senior setter,
Sayuj Zachariah, finished with a team-high 26 assists.
Leading the Cardinals
-Kevin Campbell finished with a match-high 16 kills. He also served up five aces and scooped up eight digs.
-Akil Vaughn added 12 kills.
