Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn men's volleyball team won its third straight match on the road this afternoon, defeating Lehman College, 3-1 (25-11, 25-23, 25-11), in CUNYAC play. Brooklyn improves to 10-11 overall and 2-4 in CUNYAC with the win while the Lightning drops to 3-17 and 0-5. The Bulldogs wrap up the regular season at Baruch College on Tuesday, April 2, at 6:00 pm.
How It Happened
-Led by junior middle blocker
Gabriel Pjatak's match-high 17 kills, the Bulldogs finished with 50 team kills to Lehman's 35.
-After rolling to a first set win, the Bulldogs themselves trailing the home team, 23-21, in the second. However, Brooklyn rallied for four straight scores capped by a kill put away by freshman middle hitter,
Omar Rezika, to close out the set. Rezika would finish with 13 kills and a pair of service aces for the match.
-Lehman avoided the sweep in the third set thanks to four unanswered scores to take a 21-14 lead.
-BC senior setter,
Sayuj Zachariah, finished with a season-high 34 assists to go along with four service aces and eight digs. He also put away six kills for the night.
-Brooklyn hit .262 as a team to Lehman's .083 for the match.
-Lehman was led by George Montilla's 15 kills. He also finished with a match-high 18 digs.
