Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to visiting Fontbonne University this evening at the West Quad Center, 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-23). Brooklyn moves to 5-7 with the loss while Fontbonne improved to 16-1 overall with the win, going 3-0 for their trip to New York. The Bulldogs return to CUNYAC action at home on Saturday, March 9, to take on John Jay College at 10:00 am and Hunter College at 2:00 pm in a conference tri-match at the West Quad Center. Hunter will play John at 12:00 pm.
How It Happened
-After jumping out to a 7-3 lead to start the match, Fontbonne ran off nine straight scores to take a 16-3 lead. The visitors from Missouri continued to cruise through the first game, allowing only three more BC scores the rest of the way. Trailing 19-10 in the second game, the Bulldogs put a nice little rally together including back-to-back kills, but the Griffins responded with three straight scores late to put a comeback out of reach for the BC. Brooklyn showed resilience in the third game, taking an 18-17 lead after three straight Fontbonne errors. With the third game tied 22-22, the Griffins used back-to-back scores to put BC on its heels. Brooklyn would cut the lead to 24-23 on the next point, but the Griffins would end the match on a Bulldog attack error.
-Fontbonne finished the match with a team hitting percentage of .302 to the Bulldogs' -.132. The Griffins put away 39 kills to the Bulldogs' 15.

-Junior setter,
Michael Valentin, finished with a team-high eight kills and BC's lone service ace of the match. He also finished with a team-high eight digs defensively.
-Freshman middle hitter,
Omar Rezika, had a pair of blocks.

-Cameron Graves finished with a match-high nine kills while TJ Vorva finished with six.
-Kyler Van Rossum O'Connell and Mark Klusman finished with 11 assists a piece.
