Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader at Brooklyn College Field this afternoon. Despite a late rally, the Bulldogs fell 14-3 in Game 1 and dropped Game 2, 12-0. Brooklyn moves to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in CUNYAC while Hunter improves to 14-7 and 7-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs will host their final home game on Tuesday, April 16, against John Jay College on Senior Day. Opening pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
How It Happened (Game 1)
-With two outs following the first two batters of the game, the Hawks rallied for five runs in the top of the first, scoring four unearned runs after a Brooklyn error. Hunter added five more runs in the top of the second inning.
-Brooklyn outfielder, Chanel Jemmot, knocked an RBI double to score
Leslie Lima to cut Hunter's lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the first.
-The Bulldogs rallied late in the bottom of the fifth. Lima would ground out but score junior catcher,
Shakira Feliciano, who reached base with a single. Senior infielder,
Viviana Torres, scored on a wild pitch earlier in the inning.
-Hunter starting pitcher, Nicole Rivera, recorded her first win of the season, pitching all five innings and yielding two hits.
-Hawks infielder, Francesca Cipollina, went 3-3 with a double, scored two runs, and knocked in a pair.
How It Happened (Game 2)
-Hunter starting pitcher, Francesca Cipollina, pitched three innings of perfect softball. She earned her first win of the season giving up only one hit and walking one batter.
-BC junior infielder,
Anna Curran, had BC's only hit of the game, a single in the bottom of the fourth.
-Hunter's Caroline Bibula went 2-2 with a double and drove in a pair of runs.
