Lehman Takes Both From Bulldogs in CUNYAC Doubleheader

Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader this afternoon at Lehman College.  Brooklyn fell to the Lightning, 14-2 (5 innings), in the first game of the double bill before dropping the second, 15-2 (5 innings), to close of the afternoon.  The Bulldogs move to 2-20 and 0-10 in the conference with the losses while Lehman improves to 11-16 and 6-2 with the victories.  Brooklyn will look to bounce back tomorrow against York College for a makeup with the Cardinals at Padavan-Preller Fields in Bellerose, NY starting at 3:00 pm.  

How It Happened (Game 1)
-Already leading 1-0, the Lightning unloading for nine runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 10-0 advantage after two.  The Lightning scored the runs on six hits.
-Lehman starting pitcher, Diamond Villegas, earned her seventh win of the season, pitching all five innings, allowing both of BC's runs, and yielding a pair of hits.  She would strike out nine BC batters for the game.  
-Brooklyn would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning beginning with an RBI single slapped by freshman infielder, Kayla Trembone, scoring sophomore outfielder, Chanel Jemmott who signled to lead off the inning. Trembone would eventually score on an RBI groundout hit by junior outfielder, Alyssa Taylor
-In addition to a stellar day in the circle, Villegas went 2-2 with an RBI and scored two runs for Lehman.  

How It Happened (Game 2)
-Trailing 4-0 after the first inning, the Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the second.  Senior outfielder, Viviana Torres, would score Trembone on a RBI sacrifice bunt to cut the deficit to 4-1.  Trembone reached base on a bunt single to lead off the inning.  However, the Lightning responded with eight runs in the bottom of the second for a commanding 12-1 lead heading into the third.  
-Brooklyn scored its final run of the afternoon in the top of the fourth inning with Trembone scoring on a passed ball for her second of the game.  
-Lehman starting pitcher, Tiffany Adames, picked up her fourth win of the season pitching all five innings, allowing BC's two runs, and yielding four hits.
