Staten Island, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader this afternoon at the College of Staten Island. CSI took Game 1, 18-0 (5 Innings), before closing out the afternoon with an 11-0 (5 Innings) victory. Brooklyn drops to 2-12 overall after its first CUNYAC doubleheader of the season. CSI remains at the top of the table in the conference with a 7-1 CUNYAC mark and 7-11 overall. The Bulldogs return home on Thursday for another conference doubleheader against Hunter College at 3:00 pm.
How It Happened (Game 1)
-The Dolphins scored six rus in the bottom of first innings and added two more after the second. Following a scoreless third, the Dolphins unloaded for ten runs in the bottom of the fourth.
-Brooklyn infielders
Anna Curran and
Melanie Garate had the Bulldogs' two hits for the game.
-CSI finished the game with 18 hits on 34 at-bats.
-Claudia Porcaro led the way going 3-4 with a homer and a double.
-Alison Meagher improved to 3-1 with the win in the circle while BC starter,
Megan Ortiz-Mengedoht, moved to 1-7.
How It Happened (Game 2)
-CSI starting pitcher, Jaclyn Kateridge, hurled five perfect innings of softball.
-Brooklyn starter,
Anna Curran, had a solid outing through three innings.
-With a 3-0 lead, the home team scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
-Along with dominating in the circle, Kateridge was just as good offensively, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles. She also scored two runs and drove three more in.
