Bronxville, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team started the 2019 Season with a split in a non-conference trimatch at Sarah Lawrence College this afternoon. In the first match of the day, BC fell to the host, 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 25-16, 17-25, 13-15). Brooklyn then picked up its first win of the season with a sweep (25-13, 25-21, 25-15) of Medgar Evers College to close out their afternoon.

How It Happened
-Brooklyn dominated the home team to start the afternoon, jumping out to 7-0 lead.
-After SLC tied the match by taking the second game, the Bulldogs won in convincing fashion in the third thanks to seven unanswered scores to take an 8-3 lead.
-Trailing SLC 6-3 in the deciding game, the Bulldogs evened the score with a three-point rally. With the Bulldogs clinging to a 13-12 lead, the Gryphons capitalized on three staright Brooklyn errors to win the match.
-The Gryphons finished the match with 10 service aces to the Bulldogs' eight. Brooklyn also had one more error than Sarah Lawrence for the match.

-In her Brooklyn College debut, freshman opposite,
Ashley Fung, led the way with a team-high 10 kills and 11.5 points
-Sophomore setter,
Ezri Shor, added nine kills, set for 14 assists, and served up a pair of aces.
-Freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk, finished with a team-high 26 digs.
Leading the Gryphons
-Melanie Coleman put away a match-high 15 kills.
-Coleman and Isabel Pecora served up four aces a piece.
-Clarise Steiner had a match-high 44 digs.

How It Happened
-In a well-balanced attack from the start of the match, eight different Bulldogs put away at least one kill in the three games.
-After rolling in the first game, the Bulldogs found themselves trailing the Cougars, 18-13. Brooklyn didn't fade away, rallying for ten straight points to take the lead for good and a two games to none lead.
-Brooklyn finished the match with an astounding 24 service aces to MEC's seven.
