Brooklyn, NY---Despite grabbing a 1-0 lead in the opening minute of play, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team was outlasted by by local non-conference foe, St. Joseph's College Brooklyn this afternoon, 4-3, in BC's Home Opener. Brooklyn drops to 0-3-1 with the loss while St. Joe's improves to 4-1 with the win. The Bulldogs remain home on Monday, September 16, to host Rosemont College at 6pm.
Match Summary
-Sophomore midfielder,
Rachel Gomez, scored her second goal of the season in 1' on a push up the sideline.
-The Bears tied the match in 27' and took a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal in 39'. St. Joe's out-shot the Bulldogs 12-5 in the first period.
-St. Joe's extended its lead to 3-1 on through to the top of the box and drilled home by Clara Curtiss.
-Brooklyn didn't go away as junior back,
Noemi Vazquez tap in a nice feed from junior forward,
Anna Curran, on a corner kick in 60' cutting the Bear lead to 3-2.
-The Bears responded in 82' on a corner kick to directly in front of the goal in the box.
-Brooklyn scored the final goal of the match just before time expired on a rebound goal punched in by junior midfielder,
Jailene Lucero, off of a saved shot hit by Gomez.
-BC finished with 10 shots on goal to the Bears' nine for the match.
