Brooklyn Pulls Out 3-2 Win at Purchase

Purchase, NY---After dropping the first set, the Brooklyn College rallied to pull out a 3-2 (15-25, 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 15-10) non-conference win at Purchase College Tuesday night.  BC improves to 2-1 to start the season while Purchase dropped their season opener.  The Bulldogs will look to keep it going against local non-conference foe, St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, on Tuesday, January 28, at 7pm. 

Match Summary
-Down one set to none and trailing 10-4 in the second set, the Bulldogs staged a big comeback beginning with a seven-score rally sparked by a Jasper Diangco kill.  Clinging to a 21-19 lead, Brooklyn tied the match with a four unanswered scores to take the second set.  
-Trailing 18-15 in the third set, the Bulldogs rallied for five straight scores to take a 20-19 lead.  Like the second set, the Bulldogs closed out the third with a five-score rally.
-The Panthers forced a deciding game by winning the fourth set thanks to a pair of late rallies.  
-Brooklyn jumped out a to a 7-2 lead in the fifth set and never looked back.  An Omar Rezika kill gave Brooklyn a 13-9 lead.  The Bulldogs clinched the match on back-to-back Purchase errors. 

Leading the Bulldogs
-Rezika put away a match-high 11 kills.  He also came up with four digs on the defensive end. 
-Senior setter, Michael Valentin, finished with a match-high 27 assists.
-Diangco served up a team-high four aces. 
-Sophomore setter, Brian Fok, had a team-high 11 digs. 

Leading the Panthers
-Andrea Ontiniano had  team-high 11 kills. 
-Thomas Palko finishd with a match-high 12 digs.
