Brooklyn, NY---Paced by senior guard
Jordan Wright's game-high 27 points, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team picked up a key non-conference win over Centenary University, 84-76, at the West Quad Center this afternoon. BC moves to 7-2 overall with the win while the Cyclones drop to 6-6. Brooklyn returns to conference play at Hunter College on Monday, January 6, at 7pm.
Game Summary
-Trailing the visitors 51-45 with 12:23 left in the game, the Bulldogs tied the contest with a 6-0 run. With the game tied 53-53, junior guard
Michael Tesoriero would bang a three sparking a 7-0 run that was capped by a fast-break layup finished by sophomore guard,
Kayin Olajide, with just under eight minutes to play.
-With BC leading 75-71 after a CU three-point make, Wright delivered his own back-breaking three giving the Bulldogs a 78-71 advantage with 1:19 to go in regulation. Brooklyn sealed the win at the charity stripe in the final minute of play.
-After Centenary's bucket on the first possession of the contest, the Bulldogs responded with a 9-0 tear sparked by a lay-in and a three-point make buried by freshman forward,
Elisha Park. Brooklyn would keep the lead before Centenary went on a 7-0 run taking their first lead, 27-25, of the game since the opening seconds of play. The visitors would extend their lead to as many as six points before heading into halftime with the 36-32 advantage.
-The Bulldogs shot 11-35 from beyond the arc to the Cyclones' 3-14 on the afternoon.
-Brooklyn made the most of their extra opportunities, outscoring Centenary 14-9 on second-chance points.
Leading BC
-Wright's game-high high 27 points came on 10-21 from the field including 6-10 from three-point range. The guard also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and dished out five assists in the win.
-Park finished with a BC career-high 18 points and grabbed seven boards.
-Tesoriero chipped in 12 points to go along with nine assists and four steals.
-Olajide provided a nice boost off of the bench finishing with 12 points and six rebounds.
Leading the Cyclones
-Five players finished with double-figures in scoring, led by Chris LaBelle's 22 points and six assists.
-D''Angelo Blackmond scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the game's only double-double.
