New York, NY---Despite leading by as many as 12 points in the first half, the Brooklyn College men's basketball was unable to withstand a second half John Jay College run, eventually falling to the Bloodhounds, 79-60, in CUNYAC action this afternoon on the road. Brooklyn drops to 9-15 overall and 6-7 in the conference with the loss while John Jay improves to 19-5 and 12-1. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back in their regular season finale on Senior Day at home on Tuesday against Medgar Evers in the second part of a CUNYAC doubleheader at 7:15 pm.
How It Happened
- Leading 17-16, the Bulldogs went on a 13-2 run to take a 30-18 advantage with 4:49 left in the first half. Senior guard, Orri Cohen, scored 11 points during the rally while knocking down three three-point field goals. John Jay closed the gap to 34-29 at halftime after made three of their own.
- Brooklyn would keep a relatively comfortable lead over the regular season CUNYAC champs through the opening minutes of the second half. Senior guard, Anthony McClean, pushed the BC lead up to 41-36 with a three-point make with 16:41 to go in regulation. The Bloodhounds responded and would take their first lead, 45-44, since early in the first half with 14:26 to go in the game.
- With the score tied, 54-54, with just under ten minutes to go in the game, the Bulldogs took the lead for good beginning with a 15-0 run capped at the 4:16 mark. The Bloodhounds continued to roll closing out the contest with their largest lead of the game.
