Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Bulldogs Fall to Misericordia at Home

Brooklyn, NY--The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-22), to Misericordia University this evening at the West Quad Center.  BC moves to 4-8 overall with their fifth straight loss while Misericordia snapped a three-match skid improving to 9-7 overall with the win.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back at Yeshiva University this Sunday, February 23, at 1pm for a another non-conference match.

How It Happened
  • Trailing 24-19 in the third game, the Bulldogs made one last valiant effort to force a fourth game thanks to a three-score rally capped by a kill put away by junior outside hitter, Jasper Diangco.  However, the Cougars ended the match on a BC error after a pair of solid attempts to keep the ball alive.
  • With the second game tied, 17-17, the Cougars made their move with a three-point rally on a pair of kills and a service to force a BC timeout. The Cougars closed out the second game with three straight scores.
  • Brooklyn came out of the gate on a roll before Misericordia responded with four straight scores for a 5-4 advantage. Already leading 12-8, the Cougars padded their lead with a three-score rally that BC wouldn't be able to recover from for the remainder of the game.
Leading the Bulldogs
  • Sophomore middle hitter, Omar Rezika, led the way with a team-high six kills and two blocks. Diangco and sophomore outside hitter, Darren Roach, added five kills each on the night.
  • Sophomore middle, Calvin Mullen, also had a pair of blocks on the evening.
  • Senior setter, Michael Valentin, finished with team-high honors in assists (15) and digs (6).
