Bulldogs Shut Out Cardinals for First Win; Gomez Nets a Pair

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, defeating York College 4-0 in conference play on Tuesday.  Brooklyn moves to 1-11 and 1-2 in conference play with the win, while York drops to 0-6 and 0-4 in conference play.  Today's victory was also first-year BC Head Coach Jose Castillo's first at the helm of the Bulldogs program.  The Bulldogs will look to keep their momentum going this Saturday as they host Lehman in their CUNYAC regular season finale on Senior Day.

Brooklyn midfielder Rachel Gomez scored the game-winner in 19' off of a bounce on an assist from Viviana Villanueva.  The pair would connect again just seven minutes later as Gomez put a high sailing strike over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs weren't done scoring in the first half as Gomez notched her fifth point of the day, finding Flor Ramos, who shot a rainbow over the goalie's head and into the net in 37'.

BC controlled the pace of the match all afternoon, out-shooting the Cardinals 31-12.

The Bulldogs' final goal of the match was an own as the result of a strong attacking possession.

Brooklyn junior keeper Angelina Vasta recorded the first clean sheet of her BC career.
