Wilkes-Barre, PA---The BC women's volleyball team moved to a .500 record on Saturday afternoon with a split at a non-conference trimatch hosted by King's College. BC started the day with a 3-0 sweep of Penn College (11, 13, 12) before falling to the host in five, 2-3 (25-20, 16-25, 15-25, 25-23, 10-15). Brooklyn is now 7-7 overall on the season with the split. The Bulldogs open conference play next Saturday, October 9, for a CUNYAC trimatch against Baruch and host, Lehman.
Brooklyn rolled in their first match of the day against Penn, jumping out to 3-0 lead in the first game and never really looking back. The Bulldogs served up 18 aces for the match led by
Ezri Shor's match-high six. She also finished with a match-high 18 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter,
Ashley Fung, lead the way offensively with a match-high 12 kills. Freshman outside hitter,
Aleah Rafat, added 11 kills to go along with a team-high seven digs.
BC carried their momentum from the first match to the first set against King's with a 25-20 start. The host would go on to win the next sets before the Bulldogs forced a deciding set where they lead 9-8 until the Monarchs strung together a couple of late rallies to close out the match.
Fung lead the Bulldogs once again with 18 kills and 23 digs. Shor added 44 assists to her day. The Monarchs were lead by Olivia Bunch's match-high 19 kills.
