Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball Team cruised to a three-set victory over visiting Rutgers Newark on Thursday evening at West Quad (25-20, 25-14, 25-15). The win was the Bulldogs' fifth in their last seven matches, bringing their overall record to 12-9, while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 5-13. Brooklyn will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Alvernia to compete in a tri-match against the hosts, Alvernia, and Rutgers Camden. Rutgers Newark will next play Camden as well, on Tuesday the 26th.
Trailing 9-3 to start the match, Brooklyn battled back to eventually take a 14-13 lead. BC completed the comeback in the first set with three straight scores to end the set.
Brooklyn rolled from that point on, hitting .202 to the Scarlet Raiders' -.022 for the match.
Spreading the wealth offensively, freshman outside hitter
Aleah Rafat led the way with a match-high 10 kills.
Noa Young and
Sydney Gdanski added nine kills a piece. Junior setter
Ezri Shor finished with 37 assists on the night, while
Zoey Van Vleet led the way defensively with a match-high 15 digs.
Rutgers-Newark was led by Kaiel Maynor's four kills.
