Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Bulldogs Outlasted in a Pair of Matches at Alvernia Trimatch

Reading, PA---Winners of their last two matches, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team had a couple of setbacks this Saturday at a trimatch hosted by Alvernia University.  In their first match of the day, the Bulldogs dropped a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20) to Rutgers-Camden before falling to Alvernia 3-0 (23, 12, 20) in the final contest of the day.  BC moves to 12-11 with the losses and will look to bounce back this Tuesday on Senior Night as the team hosts CCNY in CUNYAC play at 6:30 pm.

In a close match the entire way with Rutgers-Camden, the Bulldogs took the second set after taking an early lead and disrupting any Raptor rally with a pair of scores of their own.  Rutgers-Newark sealed the win in the fourth set thanks to a 10-score rally, giving them a 22-11 advantage.  Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Fung led the way offensively for Brooklyn, with a match-high 18 kills.  She added 11 digs for the match's only double-double.

Warmed up, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-4 lead to start their second match of the day against Alvernia.  However, the host school eventually responded with a pair of rallies to cut the Brooklyn lead to 15-14 before rallying for three straight scores to take a 24-21 lead.  Alvernia rolled in the second set and methodically controlled the third set for the victory.  Fung led the Bulldogs once again offensively with four kills while freshman outside hitter Aleah Rafat led on the ground with a match-high 14 digs.
