Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Battle, but Fall at Home to Old Westbury, 3-2

Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College women's soccer team came close to their first win of the season, but was just edged out in the final minutes of regulation by the College at Old Westbury at the home game this afternoon, 3-2.  Brooklyn drops to 0-9 with the non-conference loss, while Old Westbury picked up their first win of the season to move to 1-7 overall.  The Bulldogs will have over a week to get ready for their conference opener against CCNY at Randall's Island on October 13.  

Brooklyn reached the scoreboard first this afternoon in 12' as sophomore back, Priscilla Vixama, went in for her third goal of the season on an assist from freshman midfielder, Amalie Sauriat. Old Westbury's Mia Almonte evened the score in 32' with a strike off of a deflection.  

BC junior midfielder, Rachel Gomez, gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead in 63' on a through ball from the backfield placed perfectly by Priscilla Vixama.  Old Westbury responded with their own one-two punch as Nicole Abalco finished an assist from Melanie Escobar.  

With the looks of the match heading into overtime, the Panthers had other plans as Escobar put the game winner in the back of the net in 88'.  

Brooklyn had their opportunities with six of their seven shots for the match on-goal.  OW fired off 24 shots on the afternoon with 12 on-goal.  

Brooklyn keeper, Angelina Vasta, finished with nine saves in all nintey minutes of action.
