Purchase, NY----Despite another gritty second half effort, the BC men's basketball team wasn't able to complete their second comeback in a row, falling to Kean University, 61-58, in the championship game of Manhattanville College's AJ Buchanan Tournament. Brooklyn drops to 1-5 overall with the non-conference loss while Kean remains undefeated at 4-0. The Bulldogs continue their non-conference slate at home against SUNY Brockport on Tuesday at 5pm.
Trailing the Cougars 45-36 with 11:42 left in regulation, the Bulldogs would go on a 6-0 run to make it a one possession game in the next minute of play. The Bulldogs would tie the game a couple of minutes later, 47-47, after a 5-0 run sparked by a made three by sophomore forward
Elisha Park. Park would go on to be named to the All-Tournament team.
The Bulldogs would not go away, as Park buried a pair of threes in the final five minutes of action to give Brooklyn a pair of short-lived two-point advantages. Kean would respond with a 5-0 run in the final two minutes to close out the contest.
Brooklyn would lead by as many as seven points in the first half after jumping out to a 6-0 lead to start the contest, capped by a lay-up finished by sophomore guard
Zuric Harvey. Harvey paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 16 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor. Freshman guard
Serge Thraysbule added 14 points and just missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. Senior guard
