Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's soccer squad was back home on Wednesday, falling to non-conference opponent Purchase, 5-1. The Panthers improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 0-8.
Purchase got two first half goals to take control of a game that saw each team have early opportunities.
The Panthers' Rebecca Colgan scored the first goal, using her speed to get around the last Brooklyn defender and find the back of the net. Alina Vazquez assisted on the score.
Kristiana Brunder made a nice individual play to put a powerful shot on goal, just outside of the reach of the Brooklyn keeper,
Angelina Vasta, for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Purchase added a goal from Kristen Purcell just six minutes into the period to take a 3-0 advantage. Purcell added her second goal of the match only five minutes later on an assist from Rebecca Quick. Colgan scored her second goal of the match in 60', giving PC a 5-0.
The Bulldogs avoided the shutout in 67' as junior midfielder,
Rachel Gomez, placed a perfect through ball for sophomore back,
Priscilla Vixama, who would go in for her second goal of the season.
Purchase out-shot the Bulldogs 24-12 for the match, including 17-9 in shots on-target.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Monday as they host Old Westbury at 4:30 pm.
