Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

BC Falls at Hunter, Shy Nets 35 While Surpassing 1,000 Points For Career

New York, NY---Despite a 35-point outburst by BC senior guard Noah Shy, who surpassed 1,000 points for his career this afternoon, the Brooklyn College men's basketball fell in conference play at Hunter College, 121-110.  Shy becomes the 22nd Brooklyn College men's basketball player in history to surpass 1,000 points.  BC drops to 1-12 overall and 0-3 in CUNYAC with the loss while the Hawks improve to 6-8 and 2-3.  Brooklyn will look for their first conference win at home on Wednesday as the Bulldogs host CCNY at 7:15 pm.

Expected to be a high-octane offensive affair with the Hawks, the Bulldogs were beating Hunter at their own game, grabbing 57-56 halftime lead after leading by as many as 14 points in the first half.  Needing eight points to reach the 1,000-point milestone, Shy achieved the feat with 11:01 remaining in the first half, finishing with 15 points in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs and Hawks traded baskets and leads to start the second half before a three-pointer buried by junior guard Kayin Olajide gave BC a 78-71 advantage with 13:48 to go in the contest.  However, the Bulldogs would not be able to keep up with a Hunter push in the final seven minutes despite leading 91-86 with 8:24 left in regulation following a lay-in converted by freshman guard, David McFadden.

Hunter knocked down 17 three-point shots to Brooklyn's 11 on the afternoon.

Six players reached double-figures for BC on the day. In addition to Shy's game-high, Olajide added 24 points while shooting 6-10 from beyond the arc.  Junior forward Elisha Park added 19 points to go along with nine rebounds.  McFadden chipped in 12 points to go along with six rebounds.  Sophomore guard Zuric Harvey and junior forward Andre Estrada finished with 10 points each.

Hunter also had six players finish with double-digits in scoring led by Cormac Reilly and Jimmy Montrose, who scored 21 points each.
