Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team won their 5th straight game to begin the month of January, and improved to 6-0 in conference play (11-2 overall), with a 77-47 win at West Quad over visiting York College (2-4, 1-1 CUNYAC).
The Bulldogs began the game on a 10-2 run, and then extended the lead to close the quarter to 17-4.
Ericka James had an outstanding quarter, leading all scorers with 12 points.
The Cardinals kept the deficit to only 15 at the half, but Brooklyn exploded in the third quarter, extending the lead to as many as 29, behind 10 points from
Chanel Jemmott and 9 from
Sarah Labiner in the period. After cutting the lead to 23 in the fourth quarter, York would get no closer, and Brooklyn would cruise to the home victory.
Jemmott led all scrores with 25 points, while also pulling down 10 boards and dishing out 4 assists James had a huge night as well, scoring 20 points and pulling down four boards.
Labiner was unstoppable on the interior, scoring 18 points on 8-9 shooting.Â
Destiny Drummond, starting her first game as a Bulldog, dished out a career-high 13 assists on the night.
Dasha Goodman, who notched her second consecutive start, filled the box score with 6 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and a game-high 5 steals.
The Bulldogs will head out on the road Tuesday evening to take on Pratt at 7 pm.Â
