Bulldogs Roll to First Win of Season Over Old Westbury, Dale Pours in 30 Points

Brooklyn, NY---Led by junior guard Malik Dale's game-high 30 points, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team rolled to their first win of the season on Thursday at home, defeating the College at Old Westbury, 83-62.  Brooklyn breaks even on the season (1-1) with the non-conference win while the Panthers dropped their season-opener.  Next Up: Brooklyn heads down to Maryland for the weekend for the Dan Greene and Wayne Cook Memorial Invitational hosted by the St. Mary's College of Maryland.  BC will first take on the host on Saturday at 5pm.  

The Rundown
  • OW scored first in the contest before Dale knocked down his first three of the game to give Brooklyn a one-point advantage in the first minute of play.  
  • The Bulldogs went on a 23-5 run after a barrage of three-point makes to take a 34-16 lead with 5:00 minutes left in the first half.  Brooklyn continued to pad their lead and a made lay-up in the final second of the first half finished by sophomore guard, David McFadden, gave the Bulldogs a 48-25 halftime advantage.  
  • Brooklyn kicked their lead up to as many as 35 points in the first five minutes of the second half.  The Panthers didn't go away easily as they cut the lead down to as few as 12 points with a little over two minutes to go in regulation.  However, the Bulldogs wouldn't be denied and responded with five unanswered points to eventually seal the victory.  
  • BC shot 13-30 from beyond the arc on the evening while limiting OW to 4-27.

  • Dale connected on 7 of 14 from beyond the arc on the evening.  He added four rebounds and a pair of steals to lights out shooting night.  
  • Senior forward, Elisha Park, added 17 points to go along with 7 rebounds.  
  • Junior guard, Kayin Olajide, chipped 12 points to goa along with 7 rebounds and a game-high 6 steals.  
  • McFadden scored 11 points and grabbed 5 boards off of the bench.

  • Zach Cummings scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. 
  • Emmanuel Lemba grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
