St. Mary's City, MD----The Brooklyn College men's basketball team fell in the consolation game of the Dan Greene/Wayne Cook Memorial Tournament to Valley Forge, 81-62, at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Sunday. BC moves 1-3 overall with the non-conference loss while the Patriots picked up their first win of the season to improve to 1-1. Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back at home against William Paterson Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7pm at the West Quad Center.
The Rundown
- Brooklyn maintained single-digit leads early in the first half with their largest advantage (5) at the 14:35 mark following a pair of Gabriel Barker free-throws. The Bulldogs grabbed their last lead of the game following a three-point make drilled by freshman guard, Tyler Lodge, with 9:02 left in the first half.
- UVF made their move with a 17-2 run that helped them take a 40-25 lead with 2:44 leftin the first half. Brooklyn knocked down a pair of threes to trail 40-33 at the half.
- BC opened the second half on a 5-0 run sparked by a made three buried by junior guard, Kayin Olajide, to cut UVF's lead to 40-38 in the first first minute and a half of the second period. However, the Patriots responded with a 12-1 run to kick their lead back to double-figures in the next five minutes of action. Brooklyn cut the lead to nine with nine minutes to go in regulation, but that is as close they would get for the remainder of the contest.
- The Bulldogs struggled from the field in the second half, shooting 22%. Valley Forge shot 47% from the field for the game.

- Olajide led the way offensively, scoring a game-high 20 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
- Junior guards, Zuric Harvey and Malik Dale, chipped in 7 points a piece. Harvey dished out a team-high 4 assists.
Leading UVF
- Five players reached double-digit scoring led by Jay White's team-high 18 points. He also grabbed 13 rebounds for the game's only double-double.
- Isaiah Reece scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor and dished out 4 assists.
