Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Bulldogs' Win-Streak Snapped at St. Joe's Long Island Trimatch

Patchogue, NY---Snapping a three-game win-streak, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped both matches at non-conference trimatch hosted by St. Joseph's College Long Island on Saturday.  The Bulldogs fell to the home team in the first match of the day, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-15), before closing out their day with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-20) loss to Drew University.  St. Joe's swept through the day with a 3-0 win over Drew in the final match of the day.  Brooklyn moves 3-4 overall with the losses.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back in another non-conference trimatch at New Jersey City University next Sunday where the Bulldogs will take on the host as well as Kean University.

St. Joe's got ahead early and maintained a sizable advantage over BC in all three sets played.  The Golden Eagles put away 39 kills to BC's 14 while hitting .492 for the match.  Brooklyn's Darren Roach led the way for the Bulldogs finishing with a team-high 6 kills.  BC setter, Brian Fok, assisted on all 14 of the Bulldogs' kills.  St. Joseph's Mark Williams put away a match-high 13 kills while Paul Curaro served up five of the Golden Eagles' eight aces.

Despite trailing 7-3 in the first set in their second match against Drew, the Bulldogs put up a fight, rallying for three straight scores sparked by a kill put away by Amir Cekic to cut the rangers' early advantage to 7-6.  However, Drew went on a a pair of late rallies to secure the first set and build momentum to roll to a second set victory.  Brooklyn wouldn't go away easily in the third set, building a 15-10 lead.  With the Bulldogs still leading 16-13, the Rangers made their move with a six-point run to retake the lead for good and close out the match.  Brooklyn was once again led by Roach who finished with a season-high 12 kills.  Zhao Ming Li finished with a team-high three blocks for the Bulldogs.  Drew was led by Jacob Sledz who finished with match-highs in kills (15), service aces (3), and digs (12).
